I have a mesh of huge no of cells generated through ICEM-CFD. How to check average cell size in ICEM-CFD?
Thanks, |

Sorry I missed this one before... Hopefully you figured it out, but just in-case not and for others who may follow this thread...
First, you need to better define "element size", do you mean you want to know the average volume? Or the average Max Edge length per element? Once you know your criterion... 1) Look under Info => Mesh Report. This will generate an HTML Mesh report that lists the histograms for all the checks. But if you look in the message window, you will see the summary for each histogram which includes the min, max and mean. For example, here is a cut and past from the message window with a few quality checks, including volume, for my made up Tetra/Prism model ... 8795 elements with the "Volume" diagnostic Total = 176000 Min = 0.613816, max = 5.23489, mean = 1.43805571347 8795 elements with the "Volume change" diagnostic Min = 0.102187, max = 167.684, mean = 47.5945999407 10111 elements with the "Surface area" diagnostic Total = 481229 Min = 0.801887, max = 0.999285, mean = 0.940109929078 2) You could also just go to the Edit Mesh Tab => Display Mesh Quality and choose the correct Quality Type Criterion from the pulldown... Here is "Volume" Min = 0.0680032, max = 107.979, mean = 20.0113700966 8795 elements with the "Volume" diagnostic 1316 elements for which this diagnostic is undefined Total = 176000 Histogram of Volume values 102.58005 -> 107.979 : 1 (0.010%) 97.1811 -> 102.58005 : 1 (0.010%) 91.78215 -> 97.1811 : 0 (0.000%) 86.3832 -> 91.78215 : 1 (0.010%) 80.98425 -> 86.3832 : 1 (0.010%) 75.5853 -> 80.98425 : 7 (0.069%) 70.18635 -> 75.5853 : 9 (0.089%) 64.7874 -> 70.18635 : 14 (0.138%) 59.38845 -> 64.7874 : 34 (0.336%) 53.9895 -> 59.38845 : 53 (0.524%) 48.59055 -> 53.9895 : 118 (1.167%) 43.1916 -> 48.59055 : 195 (1.929%) 37.79265 -> 43.1916 : 464 (4.589%) 32.3937 -> 37.79265 : 2046 (20.235%) 26.99475 -> 32.3937 : 749 (7.408%) 21.5958 -> 26.99475 : 626 (6.191%) 16.19685 -> 21.5958 : 483 (4.777%) 10.7979 -> 16.19685 : 342 (3.382%) 5.39895 -> 10.7979 : 625 (6.181%) 0.0 -> 5.39895 : 3026 (29.928%) And here is "Max Side"...
