What tool? What kind of mesh? 2D or 3D? Are there any complications?

If you were meshing with ICEM CFD, and wanted 2D mapped quad, there is a tutorial (the 2D pipe junction) that would help you a lot.

In general, I would suggest starting with some tutorials. Get the basic skills on a simple model and then take them to your more realistic model. In your case, it sounds like your destination is also a pretty simple model.
