I use V12.
When choosing 'import file', I can see the FLUENT .msh file option, but once I try open it in Pre, it returns an error.

Or, just Edit mesh => Extrude the 2D mesh into 3D. Use inherited on the sides and name the volume and top. THe distance should be about your average edge length and use 1 cell.

That is how it used to be done.

If you have the line elements setup in the parts (INLET, OUTLET, etc.) they will extrude into faces that are in the right parts and all should be well.

hi
Im too facing the problem of importing 2D .msh file into CFX-pre. I tried it with both v12.1 and v13. The error I get is:

ERROR The importing process reported the following warning(s) while importing
the mesh from the requested file:
Failed to construct all elements.
There was a problem importing the mesh from the requested file.
The importing process reported the following problem:
Unable to import mesh: No 3D elements are present.

Am I missing something ?

Hi Simon thanks a lot for your tutorial's movie and i think they are very usefull. but i have a question about the match edge option in premesh menu. how can you invert the mesh'e slope into the boundary layer??the motion is so fast that i can't understand it. thanks

Hello Simon. I am brand new to ICEM and have watched your 3-part tutorial on 2D airfoil meshing. I am working with a multi-component airfoil similar to the one below and am finding it difficult to produce a good quality mesh. I have been using a method like the one in the tutorial with O-Grid blocking. How can I create curved blocking lines like the one is this image to better caputre the boundary layer regions?
