I wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with a problem I am having with importing a .cas file generated in pointwise to fluent. The grid configration allows some mirroring of elements but I find that when I mirror elements as apposed to build the whole grid from scratch, fluent comes with an error 'no face for the given nodes'. If I build the whole mesh from scratch, there are no problems importing the mesh. would like to know why this is the case. thanks in advance

gee:

This might be happening if you mirror around the symmetry plane and the symmetry plane isn't exactly z=0 (or whatever) the shared faces along the plane aren't really shared. The reason this can occur is if the geometry on which you're building the grid has some variation in coordinates along the symm plane.

I suggest you contact our tech support engineers at support@pointwise.com and they can look at your particular grid to diagnose the issue.

Best Regards

thanks john.

it works when I mirror connectors and faces and build the blocks from these mirrored elements but no joy when I mirror the already constructed block. well done on your software like it alot.

I still suggest that you report this to our tech support team so we can diagnose and repair if necessary. support@pointwise.com
