problems creating moving solid
Hello,
I'm new to the GAMBIT and FLUENT package, but I'm trying to pick up what I need to know in order to analyze the following problem: I'm attempting to crush a small droplet of water using a solid/wall/whatever will work. The droplet sits on hydrophobic material (contact angle 180 degrees ideally) and I wish to slowly move the solid in from above to squish the droplet. I've been trying for quite some time and researching on the web, and it seems like using layering and a moving mesh is the appropriate way to proceed, but I'm having trouble finding a clear tutorial to learn all i need to properly set up the problem. If anyone could let me know if this method is feasible, and/or point me to a good tutorial on moving meshes that is similar to this situation, I would be very appreciative. Thanks, Robert Free |
Layering, remeshing , smoothing (or even sliding mesh) depend on your geometry and also on the solid motion.
I could imagine using layering method with a translation. There is a tutorial (layering) on the online help, but there should be also other tutorials on the fluentuser website |
Thank you, I will look into those. My current 2-D geometry is a simple rectangle in which I'm trying to place a smaller rectangle with the same width, so it is basically a piston. I patch the water droplet in after importing the mesh into FLUENT.
