3D mesh starting from a 2D

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to get a real 3D mesh starting from a 2D mesh (fluent or gambit) or an axisymetric geometry from OpenFoam?

Best regards.

Yes you can with gambit.
From 2d mesh you can sweep or revolve faces with mesh option, meaning that geometry AND mesh will be transformed.
If you want to import your mesh from OpenFOAM, then I assume you need to use the utility foamMeshToFluent. (but I never used it). For sure fluentMeshToFoam & fluent3DMeshToFoam work well
