How to Draw and Mesh in ICEM

Hey. I am working on my project and my supervisor asked me to draw a rectangle with 100 grids and put boundary conditions. He said I should do it on ICEM. I am struggling to do it yet. I would appreciate any help on the steps I need to do.

I am using ANSYS 12.1 by the way.

You should really start with the tutorials.

On the "geometry" tab, there are a lot of options to create the geometry you want (by points, curves and surfaces).

For the mesh, you should use an hexa mesh, it is very easy !
On the "blocking" tab, create a block inside your rectangle. Then select the nodes distribution you want in order to create the mesh refinement you need.

But, again, start with the tutorials !

Here is a simple example. Is that what you are looking for?

About the boundary conditions, you have to create parts (such as WALL, INLET, OUTLET etc..) where you want to define your BC.

Have fun !

Thanks BroIY. I have just tried doing it using the point method. I have put up the four points of the rectangle. How do I join them and dimension them?

Geometry -> Create/modify curve -> From points

Then select 2 points to create a curve.
After you ahve created your 4 curves, go to

Geometry -> Create/modify surface -> Simple surface

Then select your 4 curves, and it will create your surface.

Your geometry is done !

You really should try some tutorials, 'cause the mesh generation is a little bit more complicated. But it's still easier when you do it with the tutorials !

Thanks a lot. I have just drawn the rectangle. Do you know of any good tutorials because the tutorials on the software are not so good really.

Go through tutorial on 2-D pipe junction.
U will learn many things

If u are working with ICEMCFD then it has its own tutorials under "Help" tab in main window(extreme right).
Your question is not very clear..!!
