Hi,
I need to open a Gambit file (.msh) into ICEM CFD. I tried different ways but no luck! I am wondering if someone can help me to figure this out. Thanks, Masoud |

Yes, just go to File => Import Mesh => Fluent
Once your mesh file is loaded, you may also want to extract a faceted surface geometry from it... Edit (menu) => Mesh -> Facets. At 13.0, you can also import a Gambit Geometry (the real parts, not the virtual stuff). File => Workbench Readers |

Many thanks Simon.
Here is another question: I could import .msh file into ICEM. It is a 3D rectangular geometry and now I wanna make a few changes without rebuilding it. I need to delete a zone and change the dimension of another zone. Would you please let me know whether or not this is possible? Masoud |

Sure, once you have an unstructured hexa or quad mesh loaded, and have extracted the geometry (as described earlier), go to File => Blocking => Load from unstructured mesh...
Now you have a blocking file and can edit it as per usual to split, delete blocks, change edge distributions, etc. |

Dear All,
I created a geometry file, without mesh, in Gambit. Now, can I import it into ICEM CFD? Regards, |

follow these steps:
1. open file in design modeller 2. Save file either as agbd or parasolid. 3. read through workbench reader option in ICEM for agbd file or through parasolid reader. |

Gambit has an ACIS kernel, and ACIS is one of the things ICEM CFD imports best... So if I were using Gambit and ICEM CFD outside of WB, I would export ACIS and read that in.
But keep in mind that only real geometry is transferred by any of these methods, not the virtual geometry stuff. Best regards, Simon
