In DesignModeler, is there a way to move a imported external geometry from the point, lets say (x1,y1,z1), to point (x2,y2,z2)? I would like to parameterize the location of a valve without having to edit the CAD file.

Thanks in advance.

Sure, It may not seem intuative at first, but in DM, body operations like this usually require you to create a plane first. Here are the steps...

1) In the top right near the "plane" pull down, you will see a little icon that looks like an "LCS" (local coordinate system). If you pass your Cursor over it, it will show the buble help for "New Plane". Click it and create a new plane by offset from another plane... That first plane should align with something like the base location of your valve.

2) Then create a second plane, this is where you want to move the valve base to. At this point you can parameterize the offset simply by clicking in the little box next to the offset value.

3) Go to the Create menu => Body Operation and change the "Type" to "Move". Select the valve body that you want to move. Then Select the Source and Destination Planes...

4) Hit generate.
