trouble with mesh quality from ICEM in CFX Solver

Hello everybody,

I have some trouble with my mesh created in ICEM CFD after translation to *.cfx5 file and start the run in CFX Solver.

In my case I try to simulate the flow field in the tip-region of a wind turbine rotorblade. I used an O-Grid-strategy to reduce the number of nodes in the domain. My problem is the Mesh Expansion Factor. The quality check in ICEM calculates a maximum mesh expansion factor of about 12. The max value for volume change is about 12 too. After I wrote the *.cfx5 file imported it in CFX Pre and started the run the solver mesh statistic calculates a value for Expansion Factor of about 3050! I have no idea what the problem is. The trouble comes up after I refined the mesh from about 7 mio to about 9 mio nodes. With the older meshes I did not see the problem. It seems that it is a solver problem because in CFX Post the Element Volume Ratio is about 17.

thanks in advance,

Gunter
