+ ICEM. Split existing elementregion to smalle regiins

Hi all
I have a larger elementsection covering my entire mesh called ZONE0
Is it possible to break this zone into smaller zones called TopZone, middleZone and bottomZone without having to remesh the enitre thing?
Thx"!!

I am not sure whether you can do this in ICEM, but you can surely do this in solvers like FLUENT, however to do this, a prerequisite is that the regions are separated by simple boundaries as in something like Z=constant plane etc.

If the boundaries are complex in shape, then you would be better served to create the requisite interfaces in ICEM itself and remesh it.

Than you for the reply
Okay, so if i remove the entire mesh in ICEM and redo it, this is okay,
How do I do this? Do I remove the ZONE0 where the entire internal mesh is?
I would really appreciate this help , for I have been dealing with this for some days now.

Hi,

You can create the surfaces in ICEM that divide the Zone0 into top, middle and bottom zone and mesh the geometry and then define these separating surfaces as interfaces and you are good to go.
