Mesh within a mesh

Hi ANSYS Gurus,

I am planning to use ICEM CFD to mesh a cold plate with embedded fluid serpentine channels. First, the channels will be meshed intricately, and then the metal body. The outer metal body will be meshed in a simple manner using a bounding 3d block; which will also include the channel volume. Will the internal detailed mesh overwrite the outer coarse mesh in the channel sections? If so, there will be no need to mesh both bodies intricately.

Thanks,

John
