Problem in updating the mesh in Workbench
Hi all!
I'm a relatively new user in ANSYS. I added the "Fluid Flow (FLUENT)" analysis system in workbench. I made a simple 2D geometry using DesignModeler, and then meshed it using the ANSYS mesher. After I finished the mesh, I pressed "Update Project" in the workbench window, and got the following two errors: "The mesh exporter failed during translation. Please send your data to your support provider" and "Update of the mesh component in <proj name> failed. Error updating cell Mesh in system <proj name>". Surely, at this stage I cannot proceed to the Fluent setup. Strangely enough, when I saved the mesh as a *.msh file, and opened it in a separate project, I got no error, and was able to proceed to Fluent setup. Is it something I should be worried about? How can I fix it in the original project using the "Fluid Flow (FLUENT)" analysis? |
Have you ever had success?
Sorry, I am not sure where you went wrong, it is usually straight forward...
I suggest going thru at least one tutorial first. Once you have been successful once, even with a basic tutorial model, you should have a good chance of getting ahead with your real project... If you still have issues, we can focus on what is special about the failing project... |
Thanks for the reply!
I had done some tutorials, and never encountered such an issue. For now I'll keep working with the second method, saving a *.msh file, and opening a new project. I have another question. The meshing application takes quite a long time (about 5-10 minutes) to mesh a simple, 2D mesh, with about 50000 nodes. In the future I will work on much more complicated, 3D geometries, and I wouldn't want each meshing trial to take hours. How can I expedite the meshing process? Is there a way to use parallel CPU, similar to Fluent? |
Those timings don't sound right... You may want to contact tech support. Maybe they can figure out what is wrong if they had the model...

Hi~ I encountered the same question with you today. I found out it was because my file directory contained some Chinese characters. So check your file directory, make sure it does not contain any special characters. Hope it is useful~

Hi I get the same error with you:
"The mesh file exporter failed during translation. Please send your data to your support provider." I just want to learn how you saved the project with .msh extension I saved the project at first as .meshdat automatically, there is no "save as" option in my ansys meshing (v.14.0), do you know any shortcuts? Thanks, idil |

Thanks, I realized that export button right after my post =)
Also, I figured out the error, the problem was the file name. You should check the workbench file name: it shouldn't include space or other foreign characters. Try "save as". ( an example of a proper name that works: WGS-RXN-3d-project ) Thanks, idil |
It solved the problem.

Be aware of Intersecting Bodies!
This error mostly returned while you have intersecting bodies in your problem geometry. just one of those bodies should be meshed and the other ones should be used as "Body of influence" at least in one "Sizing" feather.
I hope this could solve your problem. Good Luck |
Hi guys, the same problem with me. And i have no another foreign characters in directory of the file. But still cant load it into Fluent. Any ideas ?
Fixed : I have missed that there was a foreign character. And nw, it is OK. |
I am having same problem. I have checked the file directory there are no files except geometry file. When i click generate mesh, the mesh will be generated and it shows the cell meshing cannot be updated to the file. Can anyone help me with this..

Hi,
I encountered a similar problem recently. You might need to refine you mesh. Cheers |

I encountered the same problem today, and I tried all the name changing solution that mention in this topic's post, but it couldn't solve my problem. I have no special character, even I tried "save as" option with different file name but it was not working. So, maybe your solution is fine for my case, but I don't understand that how can I apply your solution. Could you please explain it more specificly? thanks, |

did you found any solution? I have same problem... |
No, I couldn't find any soluiton, but I seperated my volume different part so I thought maybe it cause the problem, so I changed the volume part. But my problem is not about the special character because I dont have any special character in file name

Hi,
I've searched all Internet to find answer for my question. I have big, multibody geometry and i need to to use surroundings to check heat transfer process. I used " Enclosure" function in design modeler. Now I have the same problem as people have commented above. What i can do with it? I need surroundings. Please help me |
ansys solver setup
hy, I have a problem with ansys solver setup when i click on edit solver setting, it shows me this Message " 'Set GuiOperation Values1 ' Caused year except for Invoke . The input string is incorrect size " Please help me .. i have a project to complete this week . here is a picture of error ^o) ^o)

If I good understand, this problem is because you used wrong name of file. In my opinion is three ways. You used to long name, you used non English letters for name of file or for name of folder or disc. For example: ę ś ć ń ó ł or something like that.

hi everyone
I had this problem in my project and I didn't find any answer for a long time after that I have found that this error occur in 2 case: 1-the model that you use for meshing is not sufficient for example: in "Face Sizing"-->the behavior should not be hard. this error was due to match control that I had used and without match control I did not have any problem. 2-the sizing that you apply is not good for example if you choose to have 0.3m size for meshes around a circle in "face Sizing"...and you choose to have another control over this circle with "body sizing"that surrounded this circle, the sizing that you apply for this section should be lower than 0.3m this was my experience in 3D meshing. maybe another case is changing the name of your files if they have special character. Best Regards, Ramin |
Same problem as you, thank for your tip.
solved my problem.:) Quote:
