Can anyone help me to design one way valve geometry in gambit? Actually I am currently studying an unsteady flow through a pipe (after water exits pump) and I want to see the effect of adding an one-way-valve (known also as check valve) into the pipe.

-mAx- will become famous soon enough
Do you have a sketch of your valve?
Already built within CAD maybe?

Actually not. I am very new in CFD analysis and I don't know so many things. Do I have to make a CAD first and then try to design geometry in Gambit?

not necessary.
Prior to CFD analysis, you need to built your geometry (cad package or gambit).
Once you know your design, I will help you

Ok max. I will provide you with my design as soon as I have it. Thank you!

Hi max I am lost. I found some check valves design in youtube (links below). I can use either of them to make a start. I am currently working on the flow of the water in pipe (after exits water pump). I have already designed and analyzed an unsteady flow in a 2-d pipe and now I want to attach one-way-valve geometry in this pipe to see the difference in the flow of the water ( i am interested in the change of flow rate over time). Hope that I am clear and you can help me.

Something like this I think is the easiest way. Can I create that in 2-d?

The straight pipe that I had design is created by 4 vertices ((0,0,0), (8,0,0), (0,0.05,0), (8,0.05,0)). I connected those vertices and created 4 edges. The boundary conditions are (velocity inlet, wall, pressure outlet and axis). Analyze in fluent 6.3 an axissymetric unsteady flow. Now I want to attach one-way-valve in this pipe to see the difference. Do I have to design a different pipe or just attach the valve in the existing one?

the ball may rotate and it will open/close the valve.
Try first static mesh (one position (ball-angle))

Can this be done in 2-D?

yes but not in 2d-axisymmetric

How should I proceed? Shall I just put a ball in the pipe and change the boundary conditions? Or I have to create a very different geometry?

here is the sketch. I hope that is clear and I will be able to create one of these geometries.
