Hi,
I'm fairly new to ICEM. I'm trying to create a hexa mesh around a half tapered wing, but the rounded wingtip is giving me a lot of grief. As you can see from the images, the mesh around the wingtip is distorted and always ends up distorted at the same spot no matter how I play with the blocking parameters. Anyone knows how this could happen and can offer a hint on how to resolve this? Thanks! |

Your 4th image shows the problem...
You have the two surface projected edges running from leading to trailing edge of the wing tip... Surface projected edges project their nodes to the nearest surface. As it gets close to the back of your wing tip, the nearest surface is just not the one you were hoping for. You can control this better with split edges. These will let you put control points (linear or spline) along those two surface projected edges and control how they fall along the wing tip. Guide them with a few points so that they are closer to the surface you want...
