Hi, I'm very new to ICEM CFD and would like some assistance creating a 2D mesh of a single Goldman Annular Turbine Blade. I followed the youtube tutorial for ICEM CFD HEXA 2D airfoil meshing and also found several posts on this forum describing a similar problem but I am unable to create a mesh that loads properly into fluent. If I create a Cgrid like the video tutorial and create translational periodic boundaries (following the two step process I've seen in other posts) between the top and bottom sections of the grid, I get errors when importing into fluent.
I also have the issue of assigning boundary conditions. I have been naming my curves Inlet, Outlet, Periodic...etc, except when I import into fluent not all of the boundary conditions import. I know I am a beginner, but I could really use some assistance creating a mesh around this turbine blade. I am importing the geometry into ICEM with a coordinate file

Here is the mesh I've been able to generate which imports into fluent. However this is before I have specified periodic boundaries.

The type of meshing you have just made is valid for external aerodynamics. you should create the meshing of turbine blade at shown
here
After creating similar domain you can apply periodic BC. you may need to apply the shifted periodic to improve the mesh quality. It is not necessary to apply the periodic boundary condition in ICEM, you can create the one in Fluent or you can use GGI.

So should the shape look more like this? I saw the shifted periodic grid made in this thread http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ans...-elements.html and tried to create a similar shape using the tip gap which I knew. I'm still unsure how to properly create the o-grids and split the blocks in this shape though. Here is what I have so far

Hi.
I have done the same thing using O-Grid. see the figure
Notice that my domain is a bit different. the periodic curves above and bottom of the blade is in the middle of upper and lower blade, respectively.

If you think it is useful, please comment!
