Blocking strategies for eight little holes
3 Attachment(s)
hello everyone, i'm back again with my air intake :D
I managed to mesh the back part along with the inside of the air intake (picture 1), however i still need to deal with eight little holes shown in picture number 2. I have a question: is there a simple way to take care of the eight holes on top of the block number 7 (picture 3). i guess the basic way to do that is to split the block 7 into eight small block, extrude and associate the edges ? is there another way ? just for trying i started by creating a new block (number 124 in the picture) that i will try to merge with number 7, is it possible to do that ? Thank you for you help in advance |

If you can attach the tin and blk (on forum or through pm), then I can suggest you something.

Main Command: Extrude along curve (provide appropriate face, one curve from starting surface to ending surface, end point of that curve). split should run across all blocks (vertically) for efficient use of o block

what i would have done to control to blocking is adding surfaces at the ends of each hole so that the premesh can appear beautiful. if i don't add surfaces, the faces of the top projects on the faces in the bottom making it very messy. when i add surface -> update blocking -> premesh , everything look fine. i'm sure that my association are corrects. did you get my problem ?

Oh yes, You are 100% correct. I didn't check the premesh, just created blocking. So when turned on the premesh, I get the mess and after adding the ending surfaces mesh is OK as it should be. I have observed another thing, that is the vertical edges of extruded blocks are not parallel to each other, however the edges on circle are parallel to all extruded blocks. I didn't understand this philosophy of blocking. Please note that I am talking about the when I turn on option of copy mesh parameters to all parallel edges. http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/4741/ramjet4.png http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/7904/ramjet5.png |
