Ansys Mesher too slow

I am trying to mesh for Fluent and seems like it takes much more time than solving the actual problem. Maybe this is normal because of thousands of faces I have in the model. I tried to slice it so that I have most possible sweepable domains as possible. It took almost a day to mesh it but solver needed only 2 hours to solve the problem.

The machine I have is a workstation with 48GB ram, 12 cpus(i can only use 8) and one of the latest xeons with plenty of storage.

any help, suggestions, tricks are appreciated.

A day sounds very long for meshing. How many volumes does the grid end up with? You might want to try ANSYS ICEM CFD with which I have made meshes with millions of volumes in less than 10 minutes.

sweep method utraslow

Cheers,

the undeniable truth is that the built-in meshing tool in ansys 13 is way too slow when using the sweep method for CFX axisymmetrical geometries. In this case, thumb up for Fluent's simple 2D mesh. However, for me using the CFX is unavoidable right now...

Anyone with a good idea to help me out of this misery?

Thank you.

P.
