Dear all,

I have a question about CFX-Solver using 4/2 processors. If my PC is with 4/2 processors, whether there are some settings in CFX-Solver for PC processor-setting or not? Or I don't set anything before I use CFX-Solver, my PC will use 4/2 processors automatically?

Please give me some advices about that!

Many thanks in advance!

You can select the mode of the solver running when define a new run, such as serial, MPI Local Parallel or MPI Distributed Parallel.

BTW, always look into the help before having a post. http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/cfx...ease-read.html

Many thanks for your reply!
I'm so sorry! Maybe since I'm very eager to get the answer ASAP, I don't know this link.

There is another short question: If the solver has been running, whether we can change/select the mode of the solver running?
when the solver has been running, if we stop running, what it will happen? the finished results can be available to be used in CFD-POST? Only lost the unfinished data and results or not?

Many thanks in advance!

You can restart the solver, and use the results file as the initial condition.

If stop a running case, two files would be there, .res and .out. And you can also get a .bak file by clicking on the backup button. This file could be used as result file too.

Many thanks for your quick reply!
Do you mean first I choose "Stop current run" then "Restart current run"? Since now "Restart current run" is gray which can't be select.

Now I only find *.out file, no .res file. Do you mean if after I select "Stop current run", and then I will get .res file or not?
I indeed select "backup run", but I din't find .bak file from the directory. I don't know why?

Many thanks in advance!
