Setting up Lift/Drag Monitors in Fluent

Hi All,

I have a simulation involving turbulent flow within a short pipe and I would like to analyse the forces exerted onto the wall. I have drawn the pipe symmetrical along the x-axis and would like to measure the lift & drag on the pipe due to flow inside it.

I am unsure of how to set the force vectors, I want to measure the force exerted on the pipe on the 'Z' axis, do I simply set x =0 ,y=0 and z=1 for the force vector?

Kind Regards,
I

Yes you do. However, I am asking myself how the pipe would develop any z-force if it is symmetrical. I think you don't need anything like the area based lift coefficient so you can just run the calculation and then go to 'reports' -> 'forces' which can display the force in z direction as that is what you might be interested in. Otherwise, you will need a reference area but for a pipe, I would just go with the force reports.
