CFX or FLUENT please!!! For my Thesis!!!

Hi dear friends,

I am new working with Ansys, I am doing my thesis and I want to know which program would you recommend to make a simulation of a Coanda Water Intake. If with CFX or Fluent and in which program can be more easier simulation. The simulation consists of a flume and a dam where the Coanda screen is located, I only want to evaluate the intake flow. You can see a Coanda water Intake example in this link:

Thanks :)

Without even looking at your model, this is what I can say. Fluent has the ability to do 2D modeling as well as creating polyhedral meshes. However, Fluent doesn't have a great GUI compared to CFX.

CFX is (I hear) easier to use compared to Fluent but only by a small degree. Industry seems to prefer CFX over Fluent but research industry favors Fluent.

Conclusion: Either of the programs will get the job done. You can't go wrong with whichever one you use...I just prefer Fluent because I use it at work and also because it can convert bad quality mesh's to polyhedra meshes.

Cheers!r
