Hello,

I use ANSYS 14.5 and i have designed a truss. In the truss i use L-shaped elements. Within ANSYS u can use orientation keypoint to orientate the elements. I know that by default ANSYS uses the element x-axis as the centroid of the element.

Why do my reaction forces change when i change the orientation of the truss when the force on the truss is only own weight. If the centroid of the element is equal to the x-axis, then it should not matter how i orientate my elements. Because ANSYS translates own weight to forces acting on the centroid of the element, or is this not the case...
I know for sure that my line model is 100% symmetric, so that is not the reason.

Does anyone know why my reaction forces change when i change the orientation of the elements?
