Fluent Boundary Conditions Lifting object out of water
5 Attachment(s)
Dear everyone,
I have a question regarding ANSYS fluent. My geometry is attached in a photo. A cylinder is lifted out of water, I use two way symmetry to simplify the problem. Afterwards I create the water based on the CAD model. There is a tiny gap between the cylinder and the vat. This why I get a little area in the corner. I have tried two different meshes attached with photos. I hope this setup is fine. Please correct me if I am wrong. Next I set up the calculation. I have chosen the free surface (top of the water) not covered by the cylinder as a pressure inlet. Is that correct? I get a lot of reverse flow. Then the calculation is a transient calculation as I lift the cylinder out of the water. I used remeshing by layering. This gives me about 15 calculation steps until my solution diverges. Can anyone comment on that? My question: Can someone give advice on boundary conditions? Does anyone have experience with remeshing? I am thankful for any help you can give Kind regards Daniel |
