Hello everybody again,
I have created a workbench file for a project that I am running, and this project has many cases to deal with. So for each case I add another solver for the same geometry. My question is simple. My university has many PCs that I can log on with my files at the same time. So is there any way I can run many cases from the same workbench at the same time? If not can I run in each and every computer an isolated version of my workbench, then get some results for each case and finally merge all of them in a file? It is important to have all the cases in a file for purposes of organisation. |

Why don't you just try running a test case? Like use two PCs, do what you want to do, and see what happens.

And that's completely fine and understandable. What I'm suggesting, however, is that you try what you said you wanted to do only on two computers. Load both workbench files, one case on each, run for a few hours, and then see what happens. If, when you save, the file is overwritten then you know it can't be done the way you'd like and you'll have to change your approach. If it does what you want it to, congrats. Begin loading the cases on all the PCs.

Before trying to read a file from a net drive from two computers simultaneously, I would recommend you to make a safe copy just in case. I remember having some trouble in previous versions when the .wbpj file thought that I was still active on my previous session (I had saved and closed naturally) and warned me about tempering the files. Some files were corrupt and a valuable lesson learned.
Personally I would just make of copies of the project file and alter them one by one just to be on the safe side with possible corruption of files, and finally collect the data in an excel sheet or something like that. Anyhow that's just me, I hope that the road chosen proves out to be excellent! |
