Hi folks,

while my university has ANSYS-FLUENT at its disposal, it doesn't have any (CAD) Computer-Assisted-Design software (such as SOLIDWORK).
I am not even sure it has any preprocessing program dealing with the meshing of the spatial domain.

Do you know any free CAD-software compatible with ANSYS-FLUENT?

Many thanks for your help.

Cheers.

To my knowledge FreeCAD can create geometry data, it can not create mesh data. If you don't have any meshing licence for ANSYS you would need a third program to do the meshing. FreeCAD however is compatible with most meshers as it can produce the usual output formats for meshing like .step or stl.

If you're student you can download for free autodesk inventor. But there are other ways too to get other softwares,,, if you know what I mean

Many thanks for your answer!

I need to design a closed hollow cylinder (depth: 150 mm, inner diameter: 24 mm, outer diameter 25 mm), that rotates at a very high rotation speed (1500 rpm).
Of course, I'll have to mesh it in an appropriate way.

I just realised I do have an access to Ansys Pre-processing but it is excruciatingly slow due to my remote connection.

What would be it the easiest way to go about it?

We may use any CAD system if it save geometry file in Parasolid x_t format. x_t most compatible with different CFD preprocessors
