Model Help Needed! (Design Modeler)

Hi, I am looking for a friendly and helpful person(s)!

I am very new to the ANSYS programs and have been thrown in the deep end for my university project, running a CFD study over a sports car (in this case it is our formula student car) And after 30+hours of searching and trying to fix the model for meshing and then further use i am at a loss.

So i am having trouble with creating an enclosure and i believe it is due to the nosecone being a surface instead of a solid and i cannot fix this issue (i also think there are other issues with the model) - i have fixed some surfaces by taking the model into solidworks and sketching them out and thus making a body. But the nosecone is proving difficult.
Please Help.

I couldn't attach the file directly so it is in link download. Hope this causes no issues, this is my first post on the forum.

First of all, you should have some kind of an idea what you are analysing with CFD. Then you can decide in how much detail the car has to be modelled.

To get a clean geometry for ansys from that .igs needs quite a lot of work. Interferences of bodies have to be removed and in general it should be made as clean as possible.

For this I encourage you to get acquainted with Spaceclaim.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. So i am looking to model airflow over the Car to determine things such as drag and downforce.

I have a “Full” solidworks model which I removed all the power train and as many unneeded items as possible.
Do you think it would be easier to remodel from scratch or is this model salvageable?

For the purpose of general air behaviour, it is salvageable.

At least for the first version you could just model the steel plates. Then add
beams if you think it will be important for the analysis.

As you said earlier, the surface body has to be changed to solid in order to make an enclosure.

Edit: regarding nosecone could be tricker. I tried some tricks in Spaceclaim to get a solid body out of it but was not yet successful. It might help if
you drew it again in SW and make it more regular shaped or even model it as solid.
