Hi, I am trying to figure out how to use AMD GPUs in Machanical to perform FEA/Modal Analysis
Since we used to perform this calculation few years ago with a gaming AMD GPU we would like to do it again on a new machine that we are going to buy soon (we are considering nVidia P4000 or AMD WX7100). Right now I am testing it using an old AMD FirePro W7100: This is the output from the solver: Number of GPUs requested : 1 GPU Acceleration: AMD Library Requested but not Enabled GPU Device with ID = 0 is: sion 2017.0.2 Product Build 20170126 for Intel(R) 64 architecture applications OpenCL Version: OpenCL 2.1 AMD-APP (2527.9) Do I have to enable an environmental variable or install an additional software? Also the string related to the device seams to be detected wrongly?! I cannot find any information related to this beta feature. From the official support pages, BTW, I see that mechanical supports only few nVidia GPU (very expensive) and no AMD GPU officially at all. Why, for example, can t I use a nvidia P4000?! The difference with respect to P6000 is only related to the number of CUDA cores enabled. It is a commercial agreement? Is there any way to bypass this restriction? Kind regards David Last edited by david.pasquale; April 9, 2018 at 06:13. |
