Hi everyone,

When I import Fluent transient solution file to CFD POST, I can display contours of time averaged variables (say velocity) without any issue. But when I try to display surface streamlines, there is no time averaged velocity option. All it offers me is colouring the streamlines with mean velocity. So my question is how one can display surface streamlines of time averaged velocity using Ansys CFD post or any other software?

Thanks.

I never use CFD post, but I can imagine the following can be done in Fluent to solve your problem.

You can set the instantaneous solution equal to the mean one (so go to the last time-step).

I don't know if it's gotten easier in newer versions but you could patch all your fields with the mean variables. But when you patch Fluent doesn't let you select the mean variables. A workaround is to create an a custom field function and set that equal to the mean variable and then you can patch the fields using the field function. It sounds like a lot of words, but takes only 1 minute to do finally.

Now you have the mean velocity sitting in the solution and you can trick CFD post to do whatever you want with it.
