Mesh motion vs. Frame motion Small-Wind turbine
 

Hey guys,

I'm simulating a 3d small wind turbine (1,5m diameter) using two ways.

When I simulated the turbine in Steady state using Frame motion I got the result of 11 Nm for the turbine Torque

When I simulated the turbine in Transient state and using Mesh motion I got the result of 9 Nm for the turbine (after the simulation stabilize). Does anyone knows if this is a problem or it could really happen?

You need to compare with experiments.


Which software did you use? In CFX, I found differences, although mostly not this large. But it depends on the operation condition and the geometry. So impossible to say.......
