Hello,

I am working on a hydrostatic thrust bearing with a single circular recess. The fluid, ISOVG22 is flowing inside the hydrostatic bearing. I will attach the geometry of the thrust bearing with this email. The fluid is flowing through the inlet at 5m/s, velocity inlet. Circular recess pressure was calculated to be 111300 pa for a 15 mm film thickness. Laminar flow, non-newtonian and in-compressible fluid is assumed. Ambient temperature is neglected. Outlet pressure is 101325 pa. I also want to apply a load of 127.51 N on the top of the bearing surface. A rotational speed of 600rpm is also provided. My end goal is the angular velocity of the fluid in these conditions.

Geometry description : inlet radius = 5mm
recess radius = 50mm
bearing radius = 75mm
As per calculation from MATLAB it was found out that maximum radial velocity for this case is 34.91 m/s. I want to simulate and verify this answer on ANSYS Fluent.

I don't want anyone to do the calculations. I've already done it. I want someone to suggest me how to apply the load on the bearing surface.

Use Deforming Mesh and 6DOF solver.
Or you can vary gap (change CAD geometry) and check force on bearing surface.

Alexander is correct.
You can change the CAD geometry, or use a static mesh deformation in CFD Pre to vary your gap thickness.
Use 0 Pa relative pressure on outlet, or make sure you take into account the increased static pressure in your force calculation.
Consider using symmetry or axisymmetric in Fluent.
