Ansys 2019R2 Installation Stuck on Fedora 32

Hello everyone,

Let me preface by saying I have already successfully installed Ansys 2019R2 on CentOS 7 before. However CentOS is has older packages of other software I use (mainly blender, paraview, freecad and some others). So I switched over to Fedora 32. I installed all the pre-requisite libraries as well as manually downloading the rpm of some redhat specific libraries and installing it. So I tried installing Ansys and the installer keeps getting stuck on:

Creating ANSYS RSM Cluster Node Service script ...
Created service script: arcnode

The install error log shows nothing, but I did use the -debug flag and noticed that it stop here:

Code:

9/30/2020 13:06:44.617: Running configuration script"/usr/ansys_inc/v195/commonfiles/configs/linx64/config/AnsConfigWB.sh"  -installdir "/usr/ansys_inc" -rev 195 -dotrev 2019 R3 -scripttosource "/usr/ansys_inc/v195/commonfiles/configs/linx64/config/ConfigCommon.tcl" -sourcedir "/tmp/ans_install_tmp24978" -os_lang en-us -install -skip_file_associations
Anyone have any idea why it does this? Both fedora and redhat/centos have the same libraries and exact same locations for those files too? What could give?

Did you solve it?

You can just ignore it and try to run the executables in the installation folder.

In my experience both distros don't work with ANSYS. Ansys only supports CentOS, Suse, and Fedora enterprise linux editions:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, and 7.7 (64-bit)
SUSE Enterprise Linux Server & Desktop (SLES/SLED) 12 SP3 and SP4 (64-bit), and
SLES/SLED 15 SP1 (64-bit)
Community Enterprise OS (CentOS) 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, and 7.7 (64-bit)

You should read what are the supported distributions: https://www.ansys.com/solutions/solu...atform-support if you are running an enterprise edition, you can write to ANSYS official support.

There were people who could make it work, but it is not easy. I tried it on Ubuntu and openSuse and it was impossible.
