ICEM CFD Swept surface does not follow curves

Question ICEM CFD Swept surface does not follow curves

Dear all,

I am attempting to extend the edge of a structure by using the 'sweep surface' tool and selecting the curves of the edges. However, I find the swept surface is not always attached to the original surface and doesn't always follow the curves perfectly. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi,


Thanks so much for your offer to help. I was using ICEM CFD and I found that although there were gaps in the model, after meshing in ICEM CFD there were no visible gaps in the mesh. Does this suggest that I don't need to worry about the gaps in the model?

Hi MDN,


the graphical view is only a representation of the actual model. The graphics are triangulated and only resolves geometries until a given limit. You can decrease the triangulation tolerance to resolve finer structures at the cost of more workload on your graphics card.

Have a look into the options in the general tab if i remember correctly, there you should find triangulation tolerance.


If this does not work, try decreasing the topology tolerance, i might mixed those two quantites up, and cant check my suggestion.

In contrast to CAD, ICEM (or most mesh generators) needs mathematically correctly intersected geometries in order to determine what's inside and outside.
