Default Postprocessing with APDL (Mechanical)

Hi everyone,

I am working on a Simulation with a lot of different load cases. For each one, I am going to need the same pictures, from the same perspective with the same color scheme.
While doing an internship at another firm, I was working with Meta Postprocessing. Here I could use python to completely automate the postprocessing process. Now I am wondering, if i could do the same with Ansys.

Since I am new to APDL, I looked into the documentation first and found this:
https://www.mm.bme.hu/~gyebro/files/...p_C_CH2_3.html

Now there seems to already be a lot of what I need, but not everything.
What I would basically like to automate with APDL is:
- only show certain parts
- switch between different stress displays (I already found a command to change the color mapping, this might be sufficient)
- change the view (here I only found a command to go to a specific view by hard coding the coordinates and stuff, not just by switching to an already existing view. This would work, but seems overcomplicated)
- de-, activate section planes
- save a picture

So my question is:
Has anyone ever tried to do this and could give some tips or even provide an example code?
Or has maybe worked with the python implementation for this? I can't seem to find a useful documentation here. Only an example to postprocess with python by exporting the results out of the Mechanical, which I would like to avoid.

If someone might be able to help a little, that will be highly appreciated
Thanks for reading, have a nice day,
Oli

Sorry, No APDL experience here, so I can't help you with doing it natively in APDL.
But I have done the automated reports with the same colors etc. in CFD Post where I created figures, set the min/max limits, and saved the state file. I then exported the report for each case, along with the matching figures. CFD post can read at least some results from mechanical solutions I believe. Perhaps that could work for you, it would be easy to check out at least, just open post and try to import your results to see if it works.

Hey, thanks for the input, I will take a look at it
I just wanted to post myself, because I finally found exactly, what I was looking for.
Doing it with APDL was actually the wrong approach, since there is scripting in mechanical, which allows me to code most of the post processing.
For anyone who might want to test this:
Scripting is in the mechanical tool under automation (what a suprise...). The documentation can be found here:
https://storage.ansys.com/act/v211/A...ame-index.html. Not a big fan of it...
There are tutorials in the support center, which I sadly cannot fully access with my student account, though.

Cheers,
OK
