Question about two methods of performing one-way FSI

Hello everyone,

After successfully completing a two-way Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis for a beam immersed in a fluid flow, my aim now is to conduct a one-way FSI analysis for the same scenario. In my quest for solutions, I have identified two methods:

The first approach involves straightforwardly transferring the data from the Fluent solution segment to the structural domain as a new boundary condition, followed by solving the structural problem. However, during this process, I encountered an issue with data transfer, receiving the following error message: "An error occurred while attempting to read the CFD result file. Please delete the load and try again."

Alternatively, I explored utilizing System Coupling for both Fluent and structural analyses, enabling the creation of a data transfer mechanism. However, this data transfer operates solely from Fluent to structural, lacking a corresponding transfer in the reverse direction. This stands in contrast to the two-way coupling method, where data transfer occurred bidirectionally between Fluent and structural domains.

I do not know which method is valid and would appreciate it if you could help me.

Thanks
