I recorded a journal file in ANSYS Fluent to set up a simulation appropriately when loading a new mesh file (e.g., specify boundary conditions, load and hook UDFs in the appropriate zones, etc.). I am now faced with the following issue: after refining the mesh, ANSYS Mechanical renumbered practically all of the cell zones/walls (changed their IDs from what they were in the original coarse mesh), such that the journal file was rendered useless because it not only uses the names of the zones/walls but also their ID when accessing them from the UI.
Instead of having to manually reassign the IDs for all my zones/walls everywhere they appear in the journal file (which defeats the purpose of automating anything...), is there any way to change the numbering performed by ANSYS Mechanical (either in the software itself or programmatically after the .msh file is exported)? |

It would have been nice to get more specific instructions... I did not manage to find anything in the UDF manual about changing zone IDs. Nevertheless, I managed to solve the issue by modifying the IDs in the original journal file using a Python script and some regex to find the relevant lines. |
