Hi everyone,

I installed Ansys student 2024 R2 but after the installtion when I try to run ansys workbench.exe I am getting the System.Xml.XmlException: Root Element is missing.
"
I already tried this solution.
Please try the following the below workaround:

Please change the PATH System Variable to make sure that C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32 \Wbem;… entries are in front of everything else.
Like: PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\Sys tem32\Wbem;…all other entries...

Manually register the DLLs listed below by starting a Command Prompt (DOS) "as administrator" and changing to the directory c:\windows\system32, then typing:

regsvr32.exe ole32.dll
regsvr32.exe atl.dll
regsvr32.exe oleaut32.dll
regsvr32.exe scrrun.dll
regsvr32.exe jscript.dll
regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll

Rename .ansys to old.ansys (just type: %TEMP% in the address bar)

Rename Ansys to Ansys.old (just type: %appdata% in the address bar)

Run the ProductConfig.exe from C:\Program Files\Ansys Inc\v2xx (use student directory) and configure the application again, by right-clicking the productconfig.exe file and select "Run as Administrator", selecting all options. Make sure you run this as administrator and install all the prerequisites.

If this does not resolve the problem, we need to check the file size for the downloaded files. It might be that the downloaded files are corrupted, and you may need to download them again and reinstall ANSYS from scratch.

Please check and let me know if that resolve the problem.
"

But I cannot find the ProducConfig.Exe file, so this is somehow half solution test and it doens't work.

I also deleted the Ansys Inc folder from C and installed Ansys 2025 R1 and I am having the same issue. For some strange reason I don't have the uninstall.exe.

After the installation in the installation log I see this message:

The installation completed with warnings/errors. Review any .err or .log files in:
C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student

Installation Complete: Tue Jan 14 21:45:25 2025

I would be thankful if you can help me run it on this computer.

Best regards

I found the issue.
The issue was propably due to the lack of memory in my C drive so for some strange reason the installation was telling me that it is finished but some files must have been missing.

After trying to relocate memory to disk C (unsuccessfully) I just reinstalled the whole operation system so that I can allocate more memory to C.

This did the trick for me and now Ansys is working.
