CAD interface, parametrization

Hy everyone!

I'm trying to use a cad interface (Inventor) for Workbench 12.1, but I can't resolve how to handle the geometry's parameters. I want to optimize, but I don't know how to publish parameters from Inventor.
Can anyone help me a bit, please? :)

Thanks a lot,

Patrícia

1. Do you have the license to import cad data in file type of inventor? It is an additional license you need for that.

2. In Workbench take a look at "View - Options - Geometry Import"
There the option "Parameters" should be activated and in the text field (Filtering Prefixes and Suffixes) below you should find "DS". That means: Each dimension in Inventor that you want to use (so you can change it within Workbench) needs the prefix "DS" in the name of that dimension. Simply give every dimension you want to change the prefix "DS".
(Of course, you can change the prefix as you want. Or deactivate the checkbox, but then you get a lot of dimensions available.)

Hy!

Actually I got the license for the cad interface, and it's working, so I can change parameters in inventor, but my problem is the following:
If I want to optimise a parameter, than I have to "publish" it. It's working when I'm using the Design Modeller, but when I use a cad interface I can't do the same.

Do U have any idea how to do that?

Regards,

Patrícia

I only can repeat myself:

When you create new a dimension in DesignModeller in a sketch or via extrusion, then the name of this dimension automatically has a prefix "DS". Because of that prefix you can use it to optimize a parameter.

If you want to do the same in inventor you have to change the name of all dimensions in your modell and add the prefix "DS" within Inventor.

Or, as an alternative way: Go into workbench to "View - Options - Geometry Import" and deselect "Parameters" under "Filtering Prefixes and Suffixes".

Thanks a lot for the information. :)
