how to use phase changing materials (PCM)
Hi there.
I'm about to install Autodesk Simulation CFD and I'd like to know if it is possible to calculate PCM (phase changing materials). If yes, how? With some assumptions, you can approximate this by adjusting the specific heat Cp to vary in a piecewise linear fashion based on temperature. For example, water has a higher Cp for liquid state compared to solid ice state. At the transition point (0C) the Cp spikes above that of the solid Cp over a very narrow temp band. For temperatures outside this band, the Cp is set for the appropriate phase state.
