unable to change ssf
hi all!
another wired problem - probably with an easy solution: after importing a mesh, saving and creating a new case, I cannot change any settings of the solver steering file. has anybody made any experiences? |
hey hansai ,
there are 2 situations where it can happen a) u wont have clicked case file on the project tree and checked. try clicking the case on project tree and try. b) the case is running . other than above 2 it cannot happen according to my knowledge . if u find something else , just update. |
hi hanasi
yes.If you click on the Solver Steering File .solve your problem...and continue
and enjoy it... |
it definitely happens in above two situations however I have experienced it other situations also. In that case I right click on 'ssf' and select 'edit ssf' or close the project and reopen it.
Nothing is more mysterious than FIRE :) |

can u help me in knowing what all the other situations ??? |
thanks to all for the help!
i have already tried all the possibilities (right click+edit ssf, edit ssf at the option bar on the right side, closing project and reopening, double click...) and i had activated the case. i failed via remote desktop as well as directly entering on the workstation. the case isnt running as well, since i havent started the simulation yet. i think it could be a problem with the licence, but does anybody know, how to find out? there were no error messages in the command window... |

1. If you have case running on your machine and you switched of the machine by mistake: When FIRE start running the case it creates .<CaseName>.dat.lock, .<CaseName>.flb.lock and .isrunning files. These files locks ssf and we can not modify it. So if you have switched off the machine without clean clouser of the running case then above files remain in the case folder and keeps ssf file locked when you switch of the machine next time. You have to delete these files manually to unlock it. 2. Sometimes when you open the project in different software version than the one it was created originally you may find ssf uneditable. Reopening the project will resolve the issue. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have specific issue. |
See my post below if that can resolve your issue. If not I can suggest another workaround.

finally i found the solution:
i used to open fire in the command-window with the "cfdwm -v=v2011" command. fire started normally, but in the command window stood: "the cfdwm command is deprecated. please use fire_wm". so i used "fire_wm -v=v2011". but from that moment on, i couldnīt any longer edit the ssf. the "fire_wm" command also affected other functions like zooming and editing values (with . or ,)! ...just in case, that anyone has got the same problem... |
