Right click on the plane where you want the sketch (cant be any of the three original ones, make a new plane), then choose Insert > Sketch Projection

I remember in the past I was using the import features from solidworks with the plug-in features mentioned and also via various file formats such as IGES or Parasolid.

In order to avoid any errors with geometry and meshing I have decided to move to DesignModeller for most of my simple geometries.
