i'm investigating flow in francis turbine runner with cfd software. i wonder if anibody can give me some advices or any work that has been made successfully. thanks alot

I do torque converter analysis w/starCD, which should present similar problems. But first: who have you worked with at Adapco? Also, what sort of original geometery info do you have to start with?

The torque converter's turbine component is similar to the Francis. I model a single blade centered in a flowfield that is a slice of the entire turbine. The size of the slice is an exact fraction of the number of blades used; for example: if the turb. has 29 blades, the slice is 360/29=12.414 degrees wide. Cyclic symmetry is used, with integral matching between the 'sliced' faces (means the cell faces must match EXACTLY).
