Usersubroutines in DEC: Problems!

I have experienced many difficulties when using Usersubroutines in DEC Alpha Server 4100 and STAR v3100. All the errors seem to be related to the DEC/STAR combination: STAR just quits running a case without any error messages sent to the *.run or *.info files.

Has anybody else experienced odd difficulties when using Usersubroutines in DEC ??

Re: Usersubroutines in DEC: Problems!

I have had numerous problems supporting this combination (for WAVE-STAR, which uses user routines), most of which I've reported back to Compaq/CD/Adapco. They've all made useful suggestions, but I still cringe whenever a Compaq WAVE-STAR support question comes in.

Problems I've had include: - MPI version compatibility mismatches - Interactions between compile flags and MPI (-fpe1 switch in starlink causes MPI star to trap underflow, -fpe0 causes star to crash(??)) - Inability to run successfully on our 2-CPU DS20

What screen output do you get if you build and execute star from a shell prompt rather than going through the GUI (e.g. floating point error, segmentation fault)?

Re: Usersubroutines in DEC: Problems!

When I run with v3100A and try to use subroutine reacfn.f, I got a shell window message saying:'forrtl: error (73): floating divide by zero Abort process'. Fortunately, if I run with v3100B and with the same reacfn.f, the run goes without problems.

Would anyone from CD care to comment on this? Is this a known bug fixed by 3100B?
