How to generate a postscript file or a tif file?
I am just wondering how to generate my results in either postscript or tif format after data visualization in STARCD. Does anybody tell me detail procedures?
Thanks, Ming-Jyh |

In Prostar GUI there is a toolbar: 'Utility' --> 'Save Screen As'; You may choose: XWD,GIF,PS,EPS

you may also take a snap shot of the graphical screen using snapshot application program available on most unix systems and save it in what ever format you want

To get a plot out of Prostar, plot to file rather than screen. This produces a .plot file. Then use the plot utility to convert the plot file to postscript or other format you want.
For bitmaps there are three approaches: 1) Use the scdump or save as options from the GUI: quick but only at screen resolution so OK for presentations but lousy for printed matter 2) Plot to file, convert to Postscript and then rip the postscript using ghostview: good quality for printing 3) If you are using the extended mode, then plot to file does not use the hardware acceleration so you get a non-extened version: so you can use option (1) but if you want extended and high quailty then you need to tile the image: contact me directly for info on this Regards Philip |
