Hi,Friends, I am doing combustion simulation.I met a problem: 1,How to define the flame zone in difference combustiom model,ie. PDF model and EDBR model with Star-CD? 2,How to calculate temperature variance in star-cd results ? Any message is welcome. If your working is combustion simulation,we can disscuss some combustion model theroy. Thanks. Regards, Yang

Hi Yang, For presumed PDF models location of flame zone can be defined as place with maximum variance of mixture fraction. this is the place, where it happends. For EDBR it could be either by temperature field or by fuel concentration. At least thats how i see it. I am using method "Look and see". I do not know the exact method for EDBR. If you want to compare the models, i would choose comparing concentrations of fuel. Hope this helps. matej

Hi Yang. I Think the flame region can be determined by CO destuction Zone (in the case of hydro carbon combustion). When U use multi step EBU model, U may put CO + 0.5 O2 -> CO2 step. And after U solve the model, U can get CO concentration distribution ans CO2 field. Then U may find some region where CO concentration decreases and CO2 goes higher. That may be the flame front.

I hope it helps U just a little bit.
