Or is everyone now using some variant of v3100? I support the WAVE-STAR link and would appreciate some feedback.

Thanks,

Steve

Maybe I should have clarified - I was testing to see whether it's time to pull the plug on support for Ricardo WAVE linked to STAR-CD v3050.

WAVE-STAR is supplied as a worked-example of how to link WAVE to 3D codes. It uses some of STAR-CD's user routines to achieve the coupling - all the routines are fully commented. The underlying co-simulation API and its use with WAVE is fully documented in the WAVE user documentation, supplied with WAVE.

Simply put, WAVE passes flux information to STAR-CD on a timestep basis and receives state information. STAR-CD applies the WAVE-computed flux uniformly and normally to the boundary region and averages over that region to compute the state information. WAVE and STAR-CD run as separate processes, with WAVE as the parent process. One WAVE model may connect to many STAR-CD models. This link functions exactly the same as WAVE-VECTIS and WAVE-FIRE. Information on WAVE-VECTIS may be found on the Ricardo web site (http://www.ricardo.com).

A good example calculation has been published by Arvin/Adapco at the North American user conference, May 2000. This paper is on the http://www.adapco-online.com under User Conferences, N.America May 2000, Arvin.

Hope this helps.

- Steve
