condensation

Does anyone know any way of simulating condensation process with help of STAR-CD.

Thanks

Hi Denisikhina,

Yes we do, but you're not going to like it. What type of two phase model do you apply ?

Re: condensation

Hello,

I need to calculate flow in a heat pipe(namely in thermosiphon). I wanted to use the VOF model, but in STAR-CD this model doesn`t allow variation of density. In Eulerian two-phase flow model an inter-phase heat-transfer has not been implemented. So, I can`t imagine how to model the condensation process in thermosiphon with Star-CD.

I'll appreciate any of your advices.

Re: condensation

You must be able to program a density variation by one of the user subroutines. This is probably not a standard function of STAR-CD.

Re: condensation

In User Guide is written:" In the current release of Star-CD the only valid settting for any physical property is constant. This applies to both heavy and light fluids". So, I'm afraid if I allow the density to vary, I'll get the wrong results.

What type of condensation process did you have in your problem?
