Streamline calculation using droplets...

Hi All,
I am trying to calculate the length of streamlines in a flow field where there is significant defelction due to separation. I am using droplet and have written a code to calculate the distance travelled by the droplet at different cells using subroutine dropro. My problem now is I dont know what properties I should be using for the droplets so that it followes the flow path of the gas. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Best regards StarCD |

Be very carefull when calculating streamlines, because it is easy to make a confusion between streamlines and pathlines of particles. Streamlines are the same under the following assumptions: 1) particles are massless 2) flow is steady
If you cannot satisfy 1 & 2, then you will calculate pathlines which can be very different from the flow streamlines. |

Hi 4xF,
thanks for your response. I know what you mean and no I cannot satidfy the above conditions. However, I am indeed in luck as a paper by Y.B. Suzen gives a nice transport equation for streamlines which can ezsily be calculated as a scalar in STAR-CD Cheers StarCD |
