Default Streamline calculation using droplets...

Hi All,

I am trying to calculate the length of streamlines in a flow field where there is significant defelction due to separation.

I am using droplet and have written a code to calculate the distance travelled by the droplet at different cells using subroutine dropro.

My problem now is I dont know what properties I should be using for the droplets so that it followes the flow path of the gas. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards StarCD

Be very carefull when calculating streamlines, because it is easy to make a confusion between streamlines and pathlines of particles. Streamlines are the same under the following assumptions: 1) particles are massless 2) flow is steady

If you cannot satisfy 1 & 2, then you will calculate pathlines which can be very different from the flow streamlines.

Hi 4xF,

thanks for your response. I know what you mean and no I cannot satidfy the above conditions. However, I am indeed in luck as a paper by Y.B. Suzen gives a nice transport equation for streamlines which can ezsily be calculated as a scalar in STAR-CD
