How to start background job ?

Default How to start background job ?

Could someone tell how I can start a background job in star 3.2.?? The job is always stopped when I close the shell!

thx

but it doesn't work for multiple nodes! I need the batch comand for

star node1,1 node 2,1 node3,1 etc..

nohup star node1,1 node 2,1 node3,1 etc.. > star.log &

I am having the same problem. Nohup does not help either.

You can use "screen" a Linux's command. It can run a job in the background.

Thanks for your attempt but it doesn't work on Redhat.

I guess CD has forgotten to install a batch job !!

Hi.. Linux background command is as following

first, excute your 'star'. if so, monitoring calculation result is about each iteration on the console screen.

second, Press ctrl+z.

third, Press "# jobs" #=>shell

forth, bg %1 => if the number of 1 is job of STAR...

It may be possible to be made backgroud job on your Linux machine...

Acutally I don't know whether it is yours which is answer you want because of no test.

Confirm your test.
