Dear Experts,

I want to simulate a shell and tube heat exchanger. How do I create tubes with finite thickness with different fluids outside and inside?

Regards,

One of the tutorials is about a fin heat exchanger. Have a look at that one to see how to have a solid material and a fluid material and join them together.

To actually generate the grid for your case, you could use

Create and Import Grids -> Create Grids -> Create 3-D Grids

and define the extent of the tubes and the fluid parts seperately in a cylindrical coordinate system. Choose a different cell type for each part, so that it is easier later to assign them to different materials. You can have different fluid materials in your model as long as they are separated by baffles or (in your case) solids.

Hi Richards, Many thanks. I hope in this way I could be able to do. But if I draw a model using other softwares sucy as SolidWorks or others, then what I have to do to specify separate solid fluid regions? Regards,

This sort of model is really not suited to automeshing, like through Solidworks etc. A good opportunity to learn REAL meshing.

I have no idea what imprinting is, but "real meshing" as I meant it, is building the mesh yourself rather than relying on an automatic mesher.
