turbulence model for oil flow thr' small gap

Hi Experts,

I want to simulate a oil flow through a small gap of around 0.15mm. I just want to know following.

The gap section is rectangular.

1. Which turbulence model

2. How many cells in the gap

3. Target y+ value. (I think this will be decided by turbulence model). Let me know if anything else.

4. Finally is this possible to do in starcd 3.22? Anybody out there has done it?

Thanks a lot.

What is the typical Reynolds number of your flow? Because, if it is quite low, because oil has a high viscosity (depends in fact a lot on the temperature), the flow may not be turbulent at all...

Actually this is a flow through a clutch plate gap. So the temperatures will be around 100 dec C. I do not know yet the flow rate.

YOu are right. It may not be a turbulent case. I will let you know the Re number.

Thanks.
